Filter press with semi-automatic plate shifting
A breakthrough in winemaking – High-quality chamber filter press in food-grade design
In wine production, filter presses play a crucial role in ensuring the quality of the final product. After pressing the grapes, the must contains various solids, including skins, seeds, and pulp. A filter press is the ideal tool for efficiently separating the so-called lees from the must. Optimised must clarification enables a pure fermentation process.
We supplied our BC1200 chamber filter press in a food-grade (FDA-compliant) design with a stainless steel cover to a winemaking cooperative in Rhineland-Palatinate. This winery is known for producing vegan organic wines, where the use of vegan filtration aids (flocculants) makes the operation of a chamber filter press essential. The goal was to optimize yield when using plant-based filtration aids.
Previously, the customer relied on vacuum rotary filters but increasingly encountered limitations as performance and efficiency were insufficient to handle growing production volumes. After an in-depth consultation, the cooperative chose our high-performance 1200 model. This not only meets the required filtration performance but also significantly increases product yield and noticeably improves product quality. Thanks to the semi-automatic plate shifting system, the customer will benefit from substantial savings in labor time and workforce requirements when emptying the filter plates.
With tightly sealed filter plates and a closed filtrate discharge system, AQUACHEM filter presses are perfectly suited for the food industry. They ensure maximum hygiene and efficiency in food clarification, particularly in winemaking.
Both our customer and we are proud of this outstanding result.
